A total of 11 terrorists, including two commanders from the Al Sunnah Wa Jama’ah group, were killed in the northern Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado province, the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Military Mission in Mozambique announced on Wednesday.
In a statement, the mission reported that nine were killed in an exchange of fire on November 18 in Macomia district, and the other two, who were commanders, were shot dead in Nangade district.
“At the site, weapons of various calibers that were in the possession of the terrorists were confiscated, and a terrorist base was captured and destroyed in the district of Nangade, on the border with Tanzania,” said the statement.
SADC forces were deployed in Mozambique since July, helping the country fight against insurgents who have been disturbing Cabo Delgado since October 2017. Enditem
