Eleven terrorists in Nigeria recently surrendered to the military amid the country’s anti-terror operations in the northeast region, the Nigerian defense authorities said on Friday.

The members of the Islamic State in West Africa Province, a terror group known to be providing support to the Boko Haram group, surrendered to the military in the northeastern Nigerian state of Adamawa on May 11, the defense authorities said in a statement.

The laying down of arms by the terrorists followed weeks of intensified onslaughts by the military, from both land and air fronts, leading to the killing of scores of the terrorists.

According to the military’s statement, the repentant militants are currently being profiled for further action. “There are indications that more terrorists are willing to surrender,” said the statement.
