13th EAC Sectoral Council on legal and judicial affairs and stakeholders’ workshop on EAC customs interconnectivity set for next week
ARUSHA, Tanzania, February 17, 2012/African Press Organization (APO)/ — A 7-day Meeting of the 13th Sectoral Council on Legal and Judicial Affairs is scheduled to take place on 20 -27 February 2012 at the Arusha International Conference Centre to consider among others a report on the implementation of previous decisions, legal and judicial matters, customs and trade, political affairs as well as productive sector instruments.
The meeting will be conducted through the sessions of the Sectoral Committee on Legal and Judicial Affairs from 20 to 23 February; the Deputy Attorneys General/Solicitors General/Permanent Secretaries, Ministries of Justice and Constitutional Affairs from 24 to 25February; and that of the Honorable. Attorneys General/Honorable Ministers of Justice and Constitutional Affairs on 27 February 2012.
During that same week, the Secretariat has organized a stakeholders’ workshop to take place in Arusha on 20-21 February 2012 at which the consultants who carried out a feasibility study on the interconnectivity of the EAC Customs will present report of their findings.
The EAC Secretariat through funding from the African Development Bank under the East African Trade and Transport Facilitation project carried out a feasibility study on the interconnectivity of EAC Customs aimed at creating a flexible solution that will enable seamless exchange of information and facilitate trade in the region. The study commenced in August 2011.
