The police in Nigeria on Thursday said it arrested 15 people for various offenses during the April 11 Governorship and House of Assembly elections in central north Kogi State.
The suspects would be charged to court after investigation, the state police spokesperson Shola Adebayo told reporters in Lokoja, the state capital.
He said two of the suspects were arrested in Ofu area of the state with ballot boxes and ballot papers and one suspect at Ankpa area for unlawful possession of firearms.
Adebayo told reporters that 12 of the suspects were arrested at Gegu-Beki community for post-election violence, adding that there is a case of someone arrested with eight stolen explosive detonators by the police on the eve of the election.
The police spokesman assured that all issues related to security breaches during the polls would be thoroughly investigated.
