The 16th annual BET Awards came off Sunday night June 26, from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

The show, which honors artists, actors and athletes across 20 categories, also featured tributes to Prince, by a slew of artists, including Jennifer Hudson and Stevie Wonder.

The show took off with surprise performance by Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar performing their collaborative effort ‘Freedom’. Nicki Minaj won the Best Female Hip Hop Artist for the seventh straight year.

Samuel L. Jackson and Grey’s Anatomy star Jesse Williams won Lifetime Achievement Awards for their film career and contributions to Black Lives Matter movement respectively.
