20-seater ICT Lab Built For Asikam Presbyterian Primary School

The Asikam Presbyterian Primary School in the Abuakwa South Municipality has received a refurbished 20-seater Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Laboratory to enhance education in the school.

The ICT lab was refurbished and commissioned by the Van Moorhouse Foundation in collaboration with the Swiss Embassy in Ghana.

Mr Daniel Y Hienno, the Abuakwa South Municipal Director of Education, encouraged the school to practice a maintenance culture to ensure the computers are always in good shape.

He asked parents to support their wards education by providing them with the necessary needs to be able to learn for better outcomes.

Dr Osei Osbon, the Director of Programs and Administration of the Van Moorhouse Foundation, said the Foundation under the sponsorship of LCR Energy Company in Canada refurbished the ICT lab to enable students have a practical feel of ICT.

He requested that every three months a report on the state of the computers be sent to the organization as a means of monitoring and assisting in the maintenance of the computers.

Dr Osbon commended the countless efforts made by one Mr Kwaku Boateng a native of Asikam, who resides in Canada, for supporting activities of VMF over the years.

Mr Michael Sakyi, the ICT teacher of the Asikam Presbyterian School, said four years ago the school’s only two computers broke down and this affected the students’ academic performance in the subject area.

On behalf of the school, he assured the donorsthat the school would make good use of the computers to improve the pupils’ knowledge in ICT.

Van Moorhouse Foundation (VMF) is a Non-profit Organization that strives to enhance people’s lives by providing daily necessities to the vulnerable within communities.
