2015 African Achiever Awards: President Kikwete, Dr Dlamini Zuma Honoured


President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma (AU Chairperson), Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso Honoured at the 2015 African Achiever Awards.

AAA5Crowned with the most blissful night of celebrating dignified Africans, the 2015 African Achievers Awards the most prestigious Award platforms in Africa held at the Sandton Convention Center in Johannesburg, South Africa took place on 25th July.

Held under the theme: “Africa?s Unity; Challenges & Prospects”, Africans from across 36 countries took turn to demonstrate the activities they are championing in various fields on the continent to put Africa on the right path for the Future.

In a conversation with the Principal Partner Tonye Rex Idaminabo he stated; through Cooperation, Understanding and Sincerity of Purpose our leaders can jointly initiate new opportunities for the Peace and Progress of our dear continent – Africa. The Occasion graced by Prof. Thandi, NEPAD, Former Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, Country Ministers, Senator Rabiu Kwankaso, Cabinet Ministers; African Ambassadors/ Diplomats, President of Planet Image and ; Dr. Namane Magau, President of Business Women?s Association of South Africa; Sandra Wilcox MD VIP Express , Directors of AAA Amb. David James Egwu, Yinka Ali Baogun, CEO VIP Express; Queen Tina Bella Van Der Merwe; Captains of Industries, Nollywood and South African Celeb was just the perfect place for Africans to take a look at the journey they have walked individually to make who Africa is today.

In an interaction with some of the winners; James Wood, a Malawian who received the Young Achiever of the year award shared the award is a testament of the hard work done so far be it a drop in the ocean but it helps continue the passion and fire burning inside him to do more.
With a night of great entertainment, performances were witnessed from various musicians in South Africa and across.

The African Organisation of Year awards winners, One Africa, accepted the awards on the night and noted it as an honour and privilege to be among like-minded Africans who are making possible contributions towards the continent and reiterated that the awards will fuel their passion to fight against extreme poverty and preventable disease on the continent, Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso won the Excellence In Good Governance In Africa. Mohammed Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso is a Nigerian politician who was Governor of Kano State from 1999?2003 and again from 2011?2015.

He establishing three brand new cites known as Kwankwasiyya, Amana and Bandirawo in addition to constructing three monumental flyovers that have helped to remove the traffic snarl in the metropolis. also provided 220kms of dualised and electrified roads to all the 44 LGAs of the state translating to 5kms for each of the councils at the cost of N80 billion.He established Free, compulsory education,He also set up 37 micro finance firms and 44 educational institutions to help the people of Kano to actualise their dreams in life , Her Excellency Ambassador Dr. Erieka Bennett won the Women/Leadership Empowerment In Africa. she has traveled, worked and lived in Africa ,for over 30 years. As the Convening Founder and Head of Mission of the (AU) African Diaspora Forum, that will link Diasporan Africans and their talents to the development of Africa she has been a valuable asset to the African Union?s development of Diasporan issues.. Dr. Bennett is a trusted Advisor to ECOWAS and she also currently serves on the Advisory Counsel of the President of Ghana.

President Kikwete?s governing philosophy and political views are influenced by those of Mwalimu Julius Nyerere whom the President was privileged to be close to. So far Kikwete?s government has received accolades across the country and in the donor community for fighting corruption, investing in people, particularly in education, and push for new investments.

Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, Chair Person of African Union won the Award for Leadership in Africa. Nkosazana Clarice Dlamini-Zuma (born 27 January 1949) is a South African politician and anti-aparthied activist. She was South Africa’s Minister of Health from 1994 to 1999, under President Nelson Mandela,. David Asare Asiamah won the award of Agricultural Excellence; SABC (Channel Africa) won the Best Content Media Organisation John Fashaneu won the Sports Icon award. Sandra Nwogu – Fastest Growing Entrepreneur in Africa Mike Uche Ogoke, Godfarther Productions won the African Entertainment and Media Entrepreneur among others.
