2017 Tema Open Golf Championship Marked for Nov, 4

This year’s Tema Open Golf Championship tees-off at the Tema Country Golf Course on Saturday, November 4-5.

Mr Joseph Nettey, Captain of the Tema Country Golf Club, who disclosed this at Tema on Monday, said the two-day 36-Hole Scratch competition, was opened to amateur and professional golfers throughout the country.

He said the competition shall be played in accordance with the rules of the World’s Golf governing body, Ghana Golf Association and the local rules of the Tema Country Golf Club.

The Captain named the sponsors as Subah Info Solutions, Royal Senchi Hotel, Raju Enterprise and Neat Cocoa Limited.

He said players with Handicap 18 and below qualifies to play in the main event but will play off to Handicap 14, while golfers with Handicap 19-28 will play to Handicap 36.

The Achimota team, led by their Captain, Mark Coffie would include, Beningro Mimis, Joseph Tieku, Daniel Asomani, Sampson Asorgba and Tei Lartey Gberbie.

The Tema team would be captained by Nettey and would have Kweku Okyere, Paul Owusu Baah and Felix Fiagomey as team members.

The Ladies category would see Rasheda Khalil, Mercy Bannerman, Nana Bema Tackie, Mona Captan Myles-Lamptey and Florence Etwi-Barima battling each other for the ultimate.

The Professionals would engage in a hectic 72-hole event, starting from Thursday, November 2 to Sunday, November 5.

There would be prizes for ‘Longest Drive’ and ‘Nearest to the Pin’ in both the Men and the Ladies segment.
