The 2020 Women In Sports Association (WISA) Awards has been postponed indefinitely.
Madam Gloria Commodore, president of WISA said in an exclusive interview yesterday that the Covid-19 has really worried them and they had to find solutions to the problems.
According to Mama G as she is popularly known, the pandemic has affected her seriously as she can not move out to seek for sponsorship and as everyone has been locked she cannot meet her members.
She hinted that 16 outstanding sports women and organisations have been shortlisted for the 2020 WISA Awards, with the citations ready but they can not receive it due to the restrictions put up by the government.
She expressed that if all goes well, next year’s event would be bigger and they may award over 40 people.
The WISA Awards have been held over the past five years, and it is one of the recognized presentations that inspire and motivate the female athletes.
She advised all female sports personalities, including the media to obey the safety and health protocols and try not to spread the coronavirus by wearing face mask, washing hands with soap often, avoiding hand shakes and applying social distance.
She also tasked them to live healthy by eating balanced diet and exercising to boost their immune system.
