The Former Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has said it was clear to the incumbent New Patriotic Party that the opposition National Democratic Congress would win the December 7th Polls following the mad rush of some government appointees working in the office of the Vice President to contest in parliamentary primaries nationwide, including Dr. Bawumia’s constituency.
Addressing party supporters during a campaign launch in the Upper Manya Krobo Constituency of the Eastern region to officially present the NDC Parliamentary Candidate, Hon. Bismark Tetteh Nyarko, to the constituents, the former NDC Chairman said, “When you go to Dr. Bawumia’s constituency, I mean his hometown, Walewale, his sister, the current MP contested as a parliamentary candidate. The Special Assistant and Advisor on Economic Affairs at Bawumia’s office, and Bawumia’s spokesperson, Dr. Gideon Boako, also contested hoping to become MP”.
“How do people, walking with the Vice President and working in his office, suddenly change their minds to contest as MPs?”
“If you walk closely with the Vice President and you truly believe he will win the election how do you relinquish a special position like a spokesperson for the Presidential Candidate, and seek to become a member of parliament?” he quizzed.
“The NPP itself knows that John Dramani Mahama will win the next elections so they are looking for space to hide to remain relevant in opposition.”
“Today I am hearing that now when you visit Upper Manya or Lower Manya they are preaching that we should vote skirt and blouse because they know that Dr. Bawumia will not become the President,” he said.
The Former Chairman however charged the constituents of Upper Manya Krobo to reject the NPP and vote massively for the NDC Parliamentary Candidate, Hon. Bismark Tetteh Nyarko, since John Mahama would need the majority of MPs in parliament to prosecute the agenda of resetting the country and moving Ghana forward and ensure Ghana becomes the oasis of peace, development and progress.
Voter’s Register is Tainted – Samuel Ofosu Ampofo
Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo reiterated the NDC’s position on the voter’s register saying the current register is tainted and not credible to conduct the elections until it is subjected to an independent forensic audit.
According to him, “NDC has stated that there is going to be a demonstration across the country on Tuesday. This is because, for the first time in the history of our country, we have an Electoral Commission that declared Presidential results riddled with errors 5 times.”
“Today they have made us know that the voter register is tainted, the voter register is not credible, the voter register is made up of names that are not supposed to be in the register.”
“The register is the heartbeat of the election, every integrity about the electoral process the register is central, for the first time since 1992 the Electoral Commission has organized a press conference to admit that there are challenges and problems with our register because recently there has been wrongful transfers.”
“We want an Independent Forensic Audit of the register, the EC responded that there were plants and animal names in the 2016 register. Our brother Tettey who led this press conference was the then Director of election for the EC before the 2016 elections.”
“We will protest and demand that EC let us know any constituency register bearing plant and animal names. They cannot insult the integrity of Ghanaians, we will go all out to and call on the International community, faith-based organizations, and civil society organizations for them to ensure our voter register is credible and fit for purpose” he added.
Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo finally called for unity among past and present NDC executives in the Upper Manya Krobo Constituency and charged them to train dedicated and committed party agents to be vigilant in policing the ballot box and every vote in this year’s elections to ensure victory for the NDC.
The Eastern Region Chairman for the NDC Mark Oliver Kevor officially launched the campaign and outdoor Bismark Tetteh Nyarko as the NDC Parliamentary Candidate in Upper Manya Krobo Constituency for the upcoming December 7th elections.
The Chairman entreated the electorates to vote massively for Bismark Tetteh Nyarko and John Dramani Mahama so that there would be an NDC MP and a future NDC DCE working together to develop the constituency without any hesitation.
