Local media says the Malawians arrived by 4 buses on Sunday from South Africa’s Lindela Repatriation Camp where they had stayed for over a month since they were detained for over-staying or lack of proper documents.
“We are stranded. They picked some of us from the streets when we least expected it and we have come back with literally nothing,” a deportee told a local radio, Zodiak Broadcasting Station, on Monday.
The deportees said other hundreds of Malawians are still at Lindela Camp awaiting repatriation.
The Malawi government is yet to respond to the predicament of the returnees who are said to be in dire need of food, water and transportation to their respective home.
Of the 245 deportees, 220 are men. Enditem
