A 27-year-old driver who allegedly defiled a 14 year old girl at Omanjor in Accra and gave her GH 5 cedis and a pregnancy kit has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.
Michael Attipoe, charged with defilement pleaded not guilty.
The court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku remanded Attipoe into Police custody to reappear on March 15.
This was after it turned down a bail application put in by his lawyer, Mr Kofi Bonnie.
Prosecuting Chief Inspector Evans Kesse told the court that the complainant was a 44year old painter residing at Omanjor with the victim.
Accused person, the prosecutor said, also reside in the same area. On February 7, this year, at about 2:00pm, Attipoe lured the victim into his girlfriend’s room and had sex with the victim.
On February 8, this year, prosecution explained that Attipoe had sex with the victim again but locked her up until 9:00pm and gave her GH 5cedis and one step pregnancy test kit.
Prosecution said when the victim got home at 10:00pm and was asked by her mother she narrated everything to her.
The victim’s mother went to the accused person’s house but did not meet him but his girlfriend called him on phone.
The Prosecution said in a recorded phone call of the accused told them that the victim had told him that she was pregnant so he gave her the pregnancy kit.
A report was made to the Police at Olebu Police station and accused person was arrested while the victim was issued with a medical form to seek medical attention.
