A total of 29 people were killed on Botswana’s roads during the just ended festive season, a Botswana Police Service spokesperson said on Wednesday in Gaborone, the capital of Botswana.
Assistant Commissioner Dipheko Motube made the announcement when releasing the preliminary festive season road death statistics for the Dec. 18-Jan. 2 period.
“For the period under review, there were 25 fatal crashes nationally with 29 fatalities,” Motube told Xinhua in a telephone interview.
“It should be understood that these are preliminary figures,” he said.
He said there is a lot that needs to be done in order to deal with fatal road crashes in Botswana.
Minister of Transport and Communications, Onkokame Kitso Mokaila, said most of road crashes in Botswana are mainly caused by human errors. Enditem
