At least three Cameroonian soldiers were killed on Sunday after a military truck transporting them from the capital, Yaounde to the commercial capital, Douala had a head-on collision with a heavy duty truck, the army said on Monday.

About a dozen others were severely injured, the army said, adding that they were quickly rushed to a hospital in Yaounde to receive medical attention.

Witnesses described a bloody scene of the accident.

“Some of the victims were in critical conditions. All the three soldiers died on the spot. The army vehicle was severely damaged,” Joseph Elondu, who witnessed the accident, told Xinhua.

An investigation is underway to shed light on the circumstances of the accident, the army noted. Enditem
