Three Parliamentary Candidates (PCs) are battling the incumbent, Della Sowah, candidate on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Kpando Constituency’s available 35,191 registered votes.
The three, Mr Elvis K. Djampoh of the New Patriotic Party (NPP); Mr Daniel Karl of the National Democratic Party (NDP); and Mr Isaac Adjanya, representing the Convention People’s Party (CPP), would solicit for votes in 72 polling centres.
Voting in the Constitution is picking up with scores of queues of prospective voters waiting patiently for their turn to exercise their franchise.
Ghana News Agency’s interviews revealed the District Council Hall Centre had recorded 160 votes out of the expected register of 816, three and half hours into the exercise.
Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission’s information on its website indicate that 116 Parliamentary Candidates are battling for 1,282,396 votes in the Volta Region.
It said 2,506 polling stations would host the contest in 26 Constituencies.
The NDC and the NPP are contesting all the Region’s 26 Constituencies with the CPP filing in 19.
PPP and Independent candidates are contesting in 14 and 13 Constituencies, respectively with the rest being shared among the NDP and the People’s National Convention (PNC).
