Three senior Guinean officials including the government secretary general have died from the COVID-19 in last 72 hours, the government said in a statement on Sunday.

“The Guinean government has learned with great sadness the deaths of several senior state officials due to the COVID-19,” said the official statement. Those officials are Salif Kebe, president of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), Sekou Kourouma, the government secretary general and Victor Traore, former director of the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) in Guinea.

While offering its condolences on this painful circumstance to the grieving families, as well as to the Nation, the government takes this opportunity to remind the population of the importance of strict compliance with health instructions and measures, to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

“It is with discipline, togetherness and solidarity that the people of Guinea will overcome the pandemic,” the statement said.

To date, Guinea has a total of 579 positive cases of COVID-19, including 87 who have recovered and 5 hospital deaths. Enditem
