“We have freed four minor girls who had been victims of trafficking. The three suspects were arrested after helping four minor girls get passports at the Burundian Immigration Police (PAFE),” said Burundian Security Ministry Spokesman Pierre Nkurikiye.

BurundiAccording to him, those girls’ age ranged between 15 and 17 years.

Nkurikiye said:”They had fake identity cards showing that their age ranged between 21 and 23 years.”

He indicated that all the four victims are from Muyinga province, Burundi’s east, and arrived in the capital Bujumbura last week with the help of a schoolteacher who has not yet been arrested.

“We are still looking for that schoolteacher who brought those girls to Bujumbura,” said Nkurikiye. “We suspect that those girls do sex work when they arrive at their destination.” Enditem
