Ghana’s economy is to see a major boost as the Swiss government is determine to renew its commitment to support Ghana?s economy by providing funds to support the country?s budget.
This was made known by the Swiss Embassy in Ghana, in a press release issued in Accra.
According to the release, ?Switzerland will be providing the equivalent of $30.8 million grant to the government of Ghana under the Multi-Donor Budget Support (MDBS) framework from 2012 to 2014. This decision, according to the Embassy, came about as result of an approval of the grant by the Swiss Federal Council which aims at helping Ghana implement its national development strategy and fight poverty,. It will also assist Ghana ?to strengthen the resilience of the economy in times of crises.
The release also stressed that the grant is in recognition of Ghana?s remarkable political and economic track record, “underpinned by decades of pursuing conducive economic and political reforms which have resulted in sustained economic growth and the attainment of Middle Income Country status.”
