At least 32 people were killed and 63 others seriously injured in road traffic accidents in Zambia during the long weekend and the ensuing holiday, the police said Thursday.
Police spokesperson Esther Mwaata-Katongo said the country recorded 317 road traffic accidents during the Heroes’ Day and Unity Day holiday, in which, 30 were fatal resulting in the deaths of 32 people.
She said in a statement that most of the accidents were due to speeding.
“We appeal to all road users to observe road traffic rules and regulations whilst on the road so as to avoid unnecessary accidents,” she added. Enditem
