A Circuit Court in Accra on Wednesday remanded into police custody a 35-year-old unemployed man for allegedly sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl behind a public toilet at Kantamanto in Accra.
Charged with defilement, Kofi Prempeh pleaded not guilty.
Prempeh is expected to reappear before the court presided over by Mrs Ruby Naa Adjeley Quaison on January 15.
Prosecuting, Sergeant Opoku Aniagyei who held the brief of Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire, said the victim lives with her mother at Abuja CMB in Accra, whilst Prempeh resides at Taifa Airport.
He said on December 18, last year, at about 0700 hours the victim collected money from her mother to use it pay and attend to nature’s call at a popular public toilet known as Baba Toilet at the Railways Yard in Kantamanto.
The Prosecution said as soon as the victim came out of the toilet, Prempeh who was behind the facility called and undressed her.
He said Prempeh then inserted his forefinger into the victim vagina, licked and had sex with her.
Prosecution said in order to do away with any evidence, Prempeh escorted the victim to a Male’s Public bathhouse and bathed the victim after which he gave her a toothpaste and a brush to clean her teeth.
According to prosecution, Prempeh then washed the victim’s pants and gave it back to her amd then left the victim to her fate at the public bathhouse.
The prosecution said a witness in the case who monitored the two of them questioned the victim who informed him (the witness) about the ordeal the accused person had put her through.
He said the witness then offered the victim a place to sit to wait for her mother who was then searching for her.
Sergeant Aniagyei said when the victim’s mother arrived at the scene, together with the help of one Mr Ocran, Prempeh was arrested and escorted to a Police Station, where a medical report form was issued to the mother to send the victim to the hospital for examination.
