Entertainment and media personality Kojo Kinn has suggested that King Promise could emerge as Artiste of the Year at the 2024 3Music Awards, despite Stonebwoy being a nominee for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) category.
In an interview with Prince Benjamin on Accra 100.5 FM’s Entertainment Capital on August 17, Kinn acknowledged Stonebwoy’s deserving place among the nominees but expressed scepticism about his chances of winning the top accolade.
“It makes sense to include Stonebwoy in the list, but winning it is a different matter,” Kinn said. He noted that while Stonebwoy has previously won the Artiste of the Year title at the TGMAs, the outcome at the 3Music Awards might be different.
“Where the TGMAs goes left, the 3Music Awards often goes right,” he added, referencing past discrepancies between the two major awards.
Kinn recalled how, in 2021, Diana Hamilton won the Artiste of the Year at the GMAs, while the 3Music Awards honoured KiDi with the MVP title, suggesting a pattern of divergence between the two awards.
He indicated that, based on his close review of the current music scene, it would not be surprising if King Promise were to win the Artiste of the Year or MVP honour at the 3Music Awards in September 2024.
Kinn’s comments come after King Promise’s recent disappointment at the GMAs, where Stonebwoy was awarded Artiste of the Year instead.
The 3Music Awards, organized by 3Music Network under the leadership of Madam Rashidatu Yasmine Abdulai, saw KiDi win the MVP award consecutively in 2021 and 2022.
The awards did not take place last year due to financial constraints, making King Promise’s potential win a significant topic of discussion for this year’s event.
