Golden Eaglets four-goal hero against Black Starlets of Ghana Isaac Success has been picked as the team’s vice-captain.
According to coach Manu Garba, Success was picked as the deputy to Musa Muhammed for his exemplary conduct both on and off the pitch.
?I?m so happy with Success,” Garba said as he strolled into the dressing room after the 6-1 whitewash of Ghana on Sunday.
“I wanted to make a formal announcement to the players that he’s now the team?s vice-captain but I held back because of some other factors but he has convinced us of his leadership qualities.?
Success has indeed grown in stature since he strolled uninvited into the team’s practice pitch at U.J Esuene Sports Stadium a year ago.
?Success has the attributes of a good striker,? Garba remarked. ?He?s strong on the ball, very effective and always ready to learn.?
The lad indeed can score goals in the company of anybody. With his four goals against Ghana on Sunday, Success is now the team’s second highest goal scorer with 21 goals behind Kelechi Iheanacho, who has 22 goals, as the Golden Eaglets extended their unbeaten run to 28-both in competitive and friendly matches.
“I’m not thinking about the goals against Ghana because that match is gone,” said the striker sourced from Megapp Soccer Academy in Benin City.
“Of course, I want to score more goals at this tournament and I’m ready to work hard along with my teammates to achieve success.”
