The police in Nigeria’s northwest region on Saturday confirmed four people were killed and many others wounded in an attack by gunmen.
The attack in Yartalata village of the Tsafe local government area of the northern state of Zamfara on Friday was believed to have been carried out by bandits, said Muhammad Shehu, spokesman for the police.
The attackers were suspected to have invaded the Yartalata village from the neighboring Katsina state in the northwest region, Shehu said.
He said a manhunt has been launched for the attackers who fled into a nearby bush after wreaking havoc on the village.
In a bid to rout out the gunmen in that part of the country, there are multiple military operations ongoing in Nigeria’s northwest region which has been wracked by years of violence.
