A road crash along a major route in Jigawa state, northwest Nigeria on Friday killed four people and injured five others, according to local police.

The crash was suspected to be caused by excessive speeding and loss of control by an articulated vehicle conveying cattle and veered off the road, said Zubairu Aminuddeen, the Jigawa state police spokesperson at a news conference in Dutse, the state capital.

The accident occurred along Aujara road in the Jahun local government area of the state, Aminuddeen.

The police spokesperson said two of the injured passengers had been treated and discharged, while the rest were referred to a hospital for medical attention in the neighboring state of Kano.
