At least four Cameroon police officers died Saturday in Otu, a locality in troubled Anglophone region of Southwest, after their vehicle stepped on an artisanal bomb, according to local authorities.
“The bomb was fabricated by secessionist terrorists. The four officers, all policemen, were patrolling the locality when their vehicle stepped on the bomb and it exploded. They all died on the spot,” an army officer who asked not to be named told Xinhua.
Six other policemen were “seriously” injured, local officials said.
Saturday’s artisanal bomb attack was the latest attempt by armed separatists to attack government forces.
Fighting is ongoing in Cameroon’s two English-speaking regions of Southwest and Northwest where separatists want to create an independent nation called “Ambazonia.” Enditem
