, BOSG Donates N12 Million, Relief Materials for Up Keep of IDPs
Over sixteen thousand (16,,000) persons from Gwoza local government areas of Borno state have been forcefully sent into refuge from their homes due to the incessant boko haram insurgency attacks on various communities .
The chairman , Board of Trustee of Gwoza Christians Communities, Bishop Williams Naga disclosed this while presenting food items donated by the state government to the internally displaced persons in Maiduguri yesterday.
According to Bishop Naga of the Biblical Church of Christ ( BCC) , Maiduguri , 47,000 IDPs from Gwoza LGA of Borno State are taking refuge in nine different villages while about fifteen thousand (15, 000 ) are staying in created state government camps .
The clergy man further stated that about 16,000 displaced persons from Gwoza are currently taking refuge in seven camps within Maiduguri, city the state capital.
He said , Governor Shettima has given #10 million for the up keep of the IDPs in the state capital and #2 million to facilitate the transportation of those in Cameroon Republic.
Speaking also , the distribution committee chairman ,Mr Haruna Amodu said out of the #10 million , #6 million was spent to procure of foodstuff .
Mr Amodu said apart from the government ‘s assistance , the former religious affairs commissioner , Alhaji Usman Mamman Darkwa personally donated 100 hundred bags of rice and 4 cows to ameliorate the hardship of the IDPs.
Other speakers at the occasion thanked Governor Shettima for his untiring assistance to the IDPs and prayed for God to reward him accordingly.
