wpid-Korle-Bu-Teaching-Hospital.jpgAn acute water shortage has hit the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, making healthcare delivery difficult for both patients?and health workers.

According to the doctors and health workers, the shortage could lead to the?outbreak?of cholera at the hospital.?

The water shortage has lasted for days and the authorities are calling on the Ghana Water?Companyto come to their aid.

Speaking to?Citi News, the Public Relations?Officer?of the hospital, Mustapha Salifu said the hospital has to rely on private water suppliers for provision of water.

?The hospital has been having erratic supply of water in the hospital so what it is doing is to call on private water suppliers and other companies that are in the?business?to supply water to the hospital so that we can keep the service going.?

According to Mr. Salifu, although the hospital did not anticipate the problem, it is trying as much as possible to look for funds elsewhere to avoid water shortage.

?We try as much as possible to avoid that situation but sometimes it may slightly delay the provision of medical care. This is not something that we?planned?for but we have to look for money elsewhere to be buying water every day.?
