An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 jolted 115 km NE of Maketu, New Zealand at 15:47:06 GMT on Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 36.9168 degrees south latitude and 177.1947 degrees east longitude.
