50 Nigerians deported from U.K. arrive in Lagos

A total of 50 Nigerians who were deported from the United Kingdom have arrived in Lagos on Wednesday, the west African nation's commercial capital, local authorities said.

The deportees, made of 44 males and six females, were deported for various immigration offenses.


They were screened at the cargo terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport by immigration officials.

Others alleged to have committed criminal offences were handed over to criminal investigation authorities.

The Acting Nigerian High Commissioner to the UK, Olukunle Bamgbose, had recently disclosed that the UK Government had plans to deport about 29,000 Nigerians. Enditem
