Six others sustained injuries in the accident involving multiple vehicles in Iyaganku, a quiet residential area of Ibadan, capital of the southern state of Oyo with a population of over three million.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria’s road safety police, attributed the accident to brake failure.
Zango Matthew, an official at FRSC, said that the accident occurred when a truck lost control and rammed into a petrol tanker. Three other vehicles were also involved in the accident.
