Accra, Feb. 12, GNA ? The UT Group on Tuesday presented cheques worth GH? 44,000.00 to support the work of seven charity organizations engaged in improving the lives of the underprivileged and the needy in society. The organizations are the National Cardiothoracic Centre, Ghana Blind Union, Ghana National Trust Fund, Family Outreach International, Angel Zoe Foundation, Light Outreach International and Hope for Kids.

The institutions received amounts ranging between Gh? 5,000.00 to GH? 8,000.00.

Mrs Pearl Esua-Mensah, UT Bank Deputy Managing Director, said the donations formed part of the annual corporate social responsibility activities undertaken by the UT Group to reach out to the less fortunate in society.

She said the donations would support the education of children at the secondary and tertiary level, children in some basic schools and also cater for the needs of some orphans and the socially vulnerable as well as meet their health needs.

Mrs Esua-Mensah said UT Group does not only talk on issues of Corporate Social Responsibility but ensure that it forms an integral part of the company’s business operations.

?UT Group seeks to positively impact on the lives of the people and the community in we operates,? she said.

She said UT was aware that its contribution alone would not help to address the challenges facing the charities, but was to encourage other institutions to come to the support of the needy and the underprivileged in society.

Mrs Esua-Mensah said UT understands that Government alone cannot do it and ?require the support of corporate organizations and individuals to make life a little better for the less privileged?.

The institutions commended UT for the continuous support and assistance over the years, which had helped to change and improve the lives of many vulnerable children in the society.
