7 killed in minibus collision in central Zambia

Seven people died on the spot in a minibus-truck collision in central Zambia, the Times of Zambia reported on Monday.


The accident occurred in Kapiri Mposhi town when a foreign truck collided with an oncoming minibus, killing all the seven passengers who were in the minibus on the spot.


Central Province Police Commissioner Lombe Kamukoshi among the dead included three females, two males and two juveniles while the driver of the South African-registered truck escaped unhurt.

“It was a head-on collision which claimed the lives of all the seven passengers on the bus. We have not yet identified the bodies of the seven people that have died,” she is quoted as saying by the paper.

Road traffic accidents are common in Zambia and are mainly caused by careless driving and the poor state of roads. Enditem
