Henry Winkler was TV’s hottest star in the ’70s as The Fonz on Happy Days, but these days he has to audition for roles – and he tells Closer Weekly he is happy to do so!
Henry tells Closer between the cast and the writing for Bill Hader’s new HBO sitcom Barry, he was interested in getting involved “right away.”
But that doesn’t mean he didn’t have to audition like everyone else. “I sat in the chair with everybody,” Henry tells Closer of getting cast as hit man Bill’s acting teacher. “The young actors said, ‘What are you doing here?’ I said, ‘I’m looking for a job — what about you?’”
At 72, Henry’s not above proving himself. “People need to see I could do stuff without a walker,” he joked at the HBO comedy’s premiere.
