Eight people were confirmed killed and eight others injured on Saturday following a road accident in central Nigeria, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps.
Joel Dagwa, a commander of the road safety police in the north-central state of Niger, said the accident involved a bus and an articulated vehicle at Labozhip village, along the Mokwa-Bida road in the state.
A total of 22 people were involved in the accident, and six were unhurt, Dagwa said.
The accident was caused by speed violation and loss control, the police official said, adding a further investigation will be done.
Deadly road accidents are frequently reported in Nigeria, often caused by overloading, bad condition of roads, and reckless driving.
