8 Schools Ready For Rexona UPAC Basketball Quarter Final

The 2016 Rexona University, Polytechnics, and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball championship has reached the quarter finals, with eight schools ready to play for the bragging right and the prestige that comes with being the best tertiary basket school.

The teams, were drawn from a nationwide preliminary qualifying rounds, which featured twenty-eight schools in seven zones.

The final eight teams were grouped into two groups of four in a draw held live on TV, from the studio of TV3.

Meanwhile, group A pits record title holders and defending champions Accra Polytechnic (A-Poly), with new entrants University of Development Studies- Tamale (UDS), current Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) champions, University of Ghana (UG) and Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) against each other.

Last year finalist, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) are joined in group B by University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Takoradi Polytechnic (T-Poly) and debutants Marshall University College who to this stage on the grounds of being the best second placed team.

The first day of matches will be played the Accra Polytechnic basketball court in Accra on the afternoon of Thursday April 14. Pairings for match day one are; A-Poly vs UDS, UG vs GIMPA in group A. KNUST will play UENR whiles T-Poly lock horns with Marshall in group B.

The games, would continue with day 2 and 3 at the UG basketball court. Saturday April 16 will be the final day of the competition.
