The Black Stars are one of the most prominent teams in Africa. Their performance at the 2019 AFCON Cup was superb although they did not walk away with the cup. The National team of Ghana has been lucky enough to see some of their players make it big outside the country. There are fourteen players from Ghana who are playing in England. Christian Atsu, Jeffrey Schulpp, Jordan Ayew, and Daniel Amartey play for the Premier League.  Schulpp and Ayew play for Crystal Palace, and they have been having an impressive run with the club.  

The other ten players have been spread out across other leagues in England; UEFA Championship, League One, National League and other Non-League Football. England has one of the highest audience of bettors who come on Betway, and many love to have a Ghanian player as their pick.


There are 47 players from Ghana in La Liga. In the last season, some players have played a vital role in the outcome of matches in their teams. For instance, Thomas Teye Partey, who plays for Atletico Madrid, had an impressive run last season. Although the club did not qualify for the UEFA Champion, the 22-year-old managed to score 22 goals. 


The Italian Serie A, B, and C have accommodated about 17 players from Ghana.  Kevin Prince Boateng is perhaps the most well-known player from the Italian League. After a brief stay at the German Bundesliga, he signed a two year deal with Sassuolo. During the 2018/2019 season, he scored 15 goals for his new club. But his stay was cut short, and Barcelona signed him but on loan. Currently, Boateng is part of AFC Fiorentina. 


The German Bundesliga has provided an excellent platform for African players to grow their talent and career. Ibrahim Sunday was the first Ghanaian football player to play for the German side in 1975. He moved from Asante Kokoto to a bigger platform; Werder Bremen. Other players who have followed in his footsteps include; Pierre Aubameyang, Salomon Kalou and Naby Keita.

Some of the players who are currently playing for German football are; Bernard Tektepey, Nana Opoku Ampomah, Richard Oforu and Kasim Nuhu who play for the Bundesliga. Other players such as Ortis Kumanini, Hans Nunoo Sarpei, and David Atanga play for the other leagues. 


France boasts of one of the most diverse football teams which host both black and white players. There are a lot of football stars with African origin that have had a great career in the French Ligue. Currently, there are 15 players from Ghana are making a career for themselves in Ghana. 

Ghanian players have also taken other countries by storms such as the Netherlands, India, Austria, Australia, and Armenia.
