The Bible Society of Ghana is hosting a two-day conference dubbed the African Biblical Leadership Initiative Forum (ABLI-Ghana 2017.
The forum will start from Wednesday from 18- 19 October, 2017 at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Effia, Takoradi.
The theme for the forum is “Responsible Citizenship; The Hallmark of a Servant Leader” would attract some key personalities such as Nana Kobina Nketsiah V, Paramount Chief of Essikadu Traditional Area, Dr. Nana Ato Arthur, Head of Local Government Service and Prof. Jerry Samuel Yaw Kuma- Vice Chancellor of University of Mines And Technology (UMAT).
The forum would bring together about 500 leaders from all sectors of society including, the three arms of Government, Academia, the Church and Para-Church organizations, Traditional Council, political parties, professional bodies, the media and other public and private organizations.
An official statement issued and signed by Reverend Dr. Erasmus Odonkor, the General Secretary said, the ABLI-Ghana 2017 Forum was born out of the African Biblical Leadership Initiative (ABLI) Forum organized yearly by the United Bible Societies within the African continent.
“ABLI is a Bible Advocacy program with a focus on leadership in Africa. It began in 2010 in Ethiopia and has been organized each year in an African country.
Ghana now has the opportunity of hosting the 2014 Forum.
“ABLI-Ghana seeks to promote leadership transformation using the Bible as a tool for change. The focus of this forum is to empower Ghanaian leaders by emphasizing on integrity, compassion and justice from the Biblical standpoint,” it added.
The statement said the forum would consist of a series of plenary sessions, workshops, discussions, prayer and fellowship.
It said the objectives of the forum was to increase the credibility and profile of the Bible in all aspects of the Ghanaian society; empower Ghanaian leaders with the message of the transformational role of the Bible in all aspects of national leadership.
It would also create a platform for the youth to learn and share about leadership; re-echo the need for hard work, initiative, mutual trust and respect and accountability at all levels of work.
Speakers for the forum would include; Prof. Jerry Samuel Yaw Kuma- Vice Chancellor, UMAT; His Lordship Justice Kwabena Ababio, High Court Judge, Kweikuma- Sekondi ; Apostle Dr. Alfred Koduah, Area Head- Church of Pentecost, Takoradi; Dr. Nana Ato Arthur, Head-Local Government Service, Accra and Dr. Kwadwo Adjei, Lecturer- UCC and Political Analyst, Cape Coast.
