The Eastern Regional Police Command has mounted a search for Makana Nda Ackah-Blay, a 49 year old Accountant of the Kwahu Atibie Midwifery Training School, for defrauding the school to the tune of GH?181,213.78.
This was contained in a press release dated September 13 2012, and signed by the Regional Public Affairs Officer, Assistant Supt. Yaw Nketia-Yeboah.
According to the release, the suspect and one Amoah Obu Nartey, a National Service Personnel attached to the account office forged the signature of the principal of the school to withdraw the said amount from the bank account of the school.
Their operation was, however, detected by the principal of the school when she went for the bank?s reconciliatory statement and immediately reported to the police.
It was discovered during police investigations that the two suspects were since 2008 withdrawing several amounts of money from the school?s account, through the well-rehearsed forging of the Principal?s signature.
They were arrested and further admitted in their caution statement of the offence of conspiracy, forgery of document and have since been put before the Mpreaso Circuit Court.
They were granted bail after they refunded GH?15,000 and GH?9000 respectively, and promised to refund the rest of the money.
Ackah?Blay has, however, failed to report to the police and also to attend to court proceedings, forcing the Court to issue a bench warrant for his arrest.
