Accra Hearts of Oak failed to beat Esperance de Tunis after a 1-1 draw at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday and got eliminated on a 5-1 aggregate in the African 2015 Confederation cup.
The Phobians lost the first leg 4-0 in Tunis three weeks ago.
The Game saw Hearts of Oak had better share of the early exchanges which worked to their favor by the team registering the first goal in the 4 minute, after Isaac Mensah headed home Isaac Oduro?s diagonal cross.
The visitors from Tunisia responded a minute later but their goal was ruled offside, the Phobians intensified the pressure on the Tunisian side but the final connection was very poor with the away side gaining confidence in the game by the minute.
During the second half, Hearts of Oak intensified their pressure as they continued tormenting Esperance de Tunis on several occassions only to be denied by Ben Cherifia Moez in post for the Tunisians.Phobians never got frustrated as they kept on probing for another goal but they failed to hit the back of the net.
In the 87 minute mark, Hearts of Oak got punished by Esperance de Tunis after Samuel Eduok set up Wassim Naghuoch who shot the ball pass Soulama Abdoulaye
” Going out is sad, and my players need to improve on their performance ,but am still chasing 4 minus one cups even though my players are inexperience.”
These were the words of Coach Herbert Addo – admitting to the superiority of the Tunisians – after they were eliminated from the African confederation cup in Accra .
In a post match interview the Coach OF Esperance de Tunis stated that ” Esperance are going for the cup in 2015 ”
