Preparations are underway for the group stage draw of the 2025 CAF African Schools Football Championship, scheduled for Monday, April 21, at the MultiChoice Ghana Limited headquarters in Accra.

The event, set to begin at 2:00 PM GMT, will stream live on CAF’s YouTube channel, allowing fans continent-wide to watch as the tournament’s initial matchups take shape.

Ghanaian football legend Asamoah Gyan and Côte d’Ivoire’s women’s national team coach Clémentine Touré will oversee the draw, highlighting the competition’s role in fostering young talent. They will be joined by revered figures such as Ghana’s Abedi Pele and Adjoa Bayor, DR Congo’s Robert Kidiaba, and South Africa’s Amanda Dlamini, all of whom will mentor participants throughout the championship.

Now in its third edition, the continental tournament has solidified its position as Africa’s premier under-15 inter-school competition. This year’s matches will unfold at the University of Ghana Stadium from April 23 to April 26, culminating in finals for both boys’ and girls’ categories. Sixteen teams eight per category will compete, with the draw dividing them into two groups of four.

The girls’ division includes representatives from Ghana, Benin, DR Congo, Gambia, Malawi, Morocco, South Africa, and Uganda. The boys’ category features Ghana, Algeria, Côte d’Ivoire, DR Congo, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda. Group stage results will determine progression to the knockout phase, where emerging talents aim to claim continental glory.

The championship continues to serve as a critical platform for youth development, blending competitive play with guidance from seasoned professionals. By integrating mentorship into the event, CAF emphasizes long-term growth over short-term success, aligning with broader efforts to strengthen African football’s foundations. Past editions have seen participants advance to national leagues, underscoring the tournament’s role in shaping the sport’s future across the region.
