Adele has announced her intention to take a significant hiatus from music following her current string of concerts.

She revealed to German broadcaster ZDF that she feels emotionally drained and needs a break.

“My tank is quite empty at the minute,” the acclaimed singer shared before her upcoming 10-date residency in Munich. “I don’t have any plans for new music at all. I want a big break after all this and to do other creative things for a little while.”

The 36-year-old star, whose last album was released in 2021, has spent the past two years performing weekend residencies at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, culminating in her 90th show this November. Reflecting on the experience, Adele described the emotional toll of performing even for a manageable audience size.

“Even though it’s a very manageable size of the crowd, it’s been an emotional exchange,” she explained. “I’m sure I’ll feel even more like that every night after the shows in Munich. But it’s a positive thing. It’s just such an exchange of energy.”

While preparing for her Munich shows, which will be held in a specially built stadium that can accommodate 74,000 fans nightly, Adele expressed excitement about the venue’s setup, including an “Adele experience” featuring an English pub and a Guinness World Records attempt for the largest outdoor screen.

Despite her performances’ acclaim and anticipation, Adele acknowledged her struggles with fame and the spotlight, admitting, “I miss everything about before I was famous, I think probably being anonymous the most.”

The Grammy-winning artist, known for her candid interactions with fans and powerful vocal performances, also addressed recent incidents during her Vegas residency, including a confrontation with an audience member over insensitive remarks.

Looking forward, Adele emphasized the importance of balancing her artistic career with personal fulfilment, noting, “I like that I get to make music all the time, whenever I want to, and people are receptive to it and like it. That’s pretty unimaginable.”

As Adele prepares to captivate audiences in Munich starting August 2nd, her decision to step back from music underscores her commitment to self-care and exploration beyond the confines of fame.
