Mr Victor Kodzo Kudoadzi, the Assistant Divisional Officer I (ADOI), the Krachi East Municipal Fire Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), has called for collaboration and support of the citizenry to reduce fire occurrences.

He said while the Service was fashioning out measures to reduce fire outbreaks, it needed support from the public for the efforts to succeed.

ADOI Kudoadzi, who was speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) during a fire safety education programme in some schools and communities in the Municipality, bemoaned the attitudes of some people toward fire safety.

He said the failure of some people to adhere to safety measures, for both private and commercial facilities, to avert fire occurrences was worrying.

ADOI Kudoadzi said it was, therefore, important that the Service stepped up its safety education drive to get citizens to be abreast with safety practices at workplaces, schools, hospitals, clinics, markets and recreational centres.

Girls Model Junior High School Dambai, Graceland Academy, Oti Senior High School, Yabram Day Senior High School, Mist Senior High School, Kwame Akura, Kplesu, Adonkwanta, Bawa Akura, Dormabin, Tokuroano, Kparekpare are some schools and communities that participated in the programme.

ADOI Kudoadzi encouraged staff, students and community members to continue adhering to safety practices as it would contribute immensely to the growth of the economy.

He also encouraged them to call on the Service in cases of fire outbreaks.
