The Management of Aduana Stars has refuted rumours that the Nana Agyemang Badu I Sports Stadium, in Dormaa-Ahenkro the homeground for the club, has been rejected by the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) for the Confederations Cup competition.
A statement signed by Mr. Evans Oppong, Deputy Public Relations Officer of Aduana Stars, it said, “we want to state unequivocally clear that no such information has been communicated to our outfit”.
It stated that in settling at the bottom of the matter, “the club took the pain to officially ask the Ghana Football Association (GFA), if any such decision has been taken because of the confidence with which some people were reporting the fake news”.
The said information according to the rumour mongers is that we have been directed by CAF to play our matches at Cape Coast Stadium. However CAF has rejected issuing any such information into the public domain.
The statement appealed to “all the Club’s teaming supporters and well wishers to treat such false and misleading information with the contempt it deserves”.
“Aduana Stars FC also wishes to assure all to remain calm and hopeful because per the arrangements and facilities provided by the club, we have every hope that our venue which is NAB 1, Dormaa Park would be approved by CAF,” the statement further added.
Meanwhile, when the GNA Sports in Dormaa-Ahenkro visited the Stadium, a section of the popular stand with minor works left uncompleted a couple weeks ago has now seen been completed and painted with green and yellow colours of the club.
The Deputy PRO told the GNA Sports that there were plans to procure floodlights and a scoreboard through an unnamed local company who has been contracted to make that arrangement.
“Hopefully they would be installed by the time we honour our first home game in the Confederation Cup”, he stated.
