Former Black Stars gloves-man, Abubakari Dambs has bemoaned the poor officiating which is characterizing the on-going AFCON in Equitorial Guinea.
According to him, referees at the tournament have performed abysmally because of certain decisions they have taken on the pitch.
The coach cited the goal that was denied the host nation in their opening game, an indirect kick against Ivory Coast?when they played Mali as some of the examples of poor officiating.
” The referees are doing a poor job at this year’s AFCON, their decisions mar the beauty of the game, just look at the opening game, the referee denied Equatorial Guinea the chance to win when a perfect goal was denied whiles it was never an offside. The decision to take an indirect kick against Ivory Coast for their keeper catching a ball headed to him by hid player,” he told GTV.
He underscored the need for African referees to educate themselves by revisiting their books ti help them take prudent decisions that will not mar the beauty of the game on the continent.
