Aflatoun Kids clean Upper West Regional Hospital

Aflatoun kids led by a volunteer from Vodafone Ghana Foundation undertook a three hour a clean-up exercise at the Upper West Regional Hospital.
The motive of the clean-up was to show solidarity to their brothers and sisters in the children’s ward of the hospital, and to welcome new born babies to a healthy and sound environment.
Aflatoun Kids also used the opportunity to show mothers love to at the maternity ward.
The kids moved into action at the regional hospital upon arrival, some members went to the administration. The hospital administration gave the children some tools such as gloves, masks and cutlasses.
Zoomlion supported the exercise with brooms, wheel barrows, nose masks,  gloves, shovels and pickers. Support also came from Yazz products in the form of baby diapers, tooth paste and washing powder. Plan Ghana on the other hand, supported the children with refreshment.
The maternity ward was cleaned. They removed cobwebs from all corners of the ward, swept, scrubbed and washed the grounds, and dusted the windows and finally arranged and kept all things in the hospital in order. The children extended  the clean-up exercise to other wards. They mobbed some of the corridors in the hospital. Aflatoun Kids also cleared the weeds and grasses in the hospital.
There was an open gathering where Aflatoun kids met with the heads of departments in the hospital and some members from their sponsors. Speeches were read by some of the children.
Aflakids also made their personal donations comprising of Kalypo, diapers, oranges, bananas, toffees, toilet rolls, get well cards among others.
The regional manager of Plan Ghana said he was proud to be part of the unique cleaning and donation exercise. According to him it was unique in the sense that Aflatoun Kids wanted to see how people will turn their minds and support the Hospital to function effectively. “That is why even with their little upkeep monies the kids manage to contribute something small to purchase some items to donate to the hospital.”
He said Aflatoun kids are committed to seeing everybody being healthy and will always want to reach out and put smiles on the faces of the less privileged in society.
He urged children to be full of smiles and have good memories so that they can learn happily in school and at home .
According to him the donation to the hospital was a commitment by the children to the hospital with an aim  to see every child and every Mother in the children and Maternity Wards smile.
The children on the other hand  expressed appreciation to Plan Ghana, Yazz products, Zoomlion, Community Aid for Rural Development and the Hospital staff for the support given them with the  signal that there is hope to do more to make that difference they want to make in the world.
The children also appealed to religious bodies, businesses and organizations to support their efforts and also follow up so that together, they can make the Hospital an interesting place.
