When we say Plus size – it’s something that does not fall into society’s understanding of a body type when it that shouldn’t be the case
Size may matter to some people, but not to everyone at least not to Achia Afre of AFRE ANKO as most of her models that strutted down the the runway were plus size models elegantly clad in AFRE ANKO designs at the just ended Accra Fashion Week CR18.
Not only did she sell all her pieces shortly after her show but her styles are still in production and very soon will be out of the material used to make them. This is a remarkable trend that shows big ladies do sell.
Every body type no matter how small or big it is should be celebrated, although ‘skinny’ when it comes to the runway still continues to be the most desirable body type, plus size fashion is and evntually will catch up. It’s about time we see beauty for what it is and not what we think it should be and thats what AFRE ANKO is all about.
AFRE ANKO is a long standing bespoke clothing and jewellery brand in Ghana established by Achia Afre. Achia Afre was trained both in Ghana and the UK with a degree in fashion design and illustration from Lewisham Southwark College.
