Africa First Ladies To Meet NGOs In Maryland

? ? ??On September 6, 2013, African, Caribbean and Latin American First Ladies will meet to discuss and exchange ideas about empowering NGOS.

The First Ladies Forum will provide opportunity for the first ladies to discuss their current actions in support of NGOS in their home countries and what needs to be done to fully engage NGOS in the implementation of policies that affect their various communities.

The Forum is part of the 2013 Global NGO Empowerment Summit sponsored by the International Association of African NGOS, to be held at the Hilton Hotel and Resorts in Rockville, Maryland. The conference starts on? September 5, 2013.

The forum will be held aboard the historic USS Sequoia Presidential Yatch. Designed in 1925, the Sequoia is a fully restored 104 ft? Presidential Yatch that has served nine Presidents. The Yatch which was last used by? President Jimmy Carter, was designated by Congress as a National Historic Landmark.

The Yatch is perhaps the most important piece of Americana in private hands and it is probably the most famous vessel in America. First employed in service during the 1920s, it has served Presidents and many world leaders.

The first Ladies, political leaders and speakers are scheduled for a press conference at the National Press Club on September 4, 2013 at 12:00pm.
