The Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) is marking its 20th anniversary by inviting filmmakers across Africa to submit their films for consideration in this prestigious event. Participating in AMAA not only provides a platform to showcase your work to a global audience but also offers opportunities for networking, learning, and recognition.
Founded by the late Peace Anyiam Osigwe, the AMAA has been a beacon for African storytelling through cinema, honouring creativity, innovation, and dedication in filmmaking.
The call for entries, initially set to close earlier, has been extended until August 10, providing filmmakers with more time to perfect their submissions and feel less pressured.
The organizers noted that “the dream of recognizing and elevating African storytelling through the cinema was birthed and conceived by the Africa Movie Academy Awards founder, Peace Anyiam Osigwe of blessed memory.”
AMAA has played a crucial role in promoting excellence in film across the continent, fostering a vibrant network of professionals, and showcasing the extraordinary talents that shape the industry.
The event will pay tribute to Peace Anyiam Osigwe for her visionary contributions to African cinema.
Submissions for the 20th edition of AMAA are open to all, including feature films, short films, documentaries, and more produced and released between January 2023 and July 2024, making every filmmaker feel included in this celebration of African cinema.
Filmmakers interested in participating can submit their entries through the official AMAA FilmFreeway page. The process is simple and straightforward. Just visit the page, fill in the required details, and use the waiver code “AMAA2024code” to submit your entry.
