The Black Starlets lost 1-4 to their West African neighbors in the return leg of the qualifiers in Ouagadougou on Saturday.
Ghana thus progressed to the final round of the qualifiers on a 6-5 aggregate following a 5-1 drubbing of the young Stallions at the China-built Cape Coast sports stadium two weeks ago.
Ghana’s team now has a date with neighbors Cote d’Ivoire in the last round of the journey to the 12th edition of the eight-team Africa U-17 tournament scheduled to take place in Madagascar in 2017.
The Black Starlets, two-time champions of the tournament, makes another attempt to seal qualification to the youth event after being disqualified from the last gathering for fielding an over-age player in the qualifiers.
The winner of the two-legged qualifier will join hosts Madagascar and six other teams for the championship.
The first-leg of the final round qualifiers will begin on Sept.16, 2016. Enditem
