African Youth Urged To Fight Poverty, Underdevelopment

The 54 kingdoms, a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) and Africa Youth Network(AYONET ) yesterday launched their maiden awards, dubbed ‘2012 Ghana Youth Awards’ under the theme, “Enterprise Development and Funding,” at the KAKMA Conference Center in Accra.

The initiative is aimed at encouraging and acknowedging the efforts of Ghanaian youths in their chosen careers and professions.

Delivering his speech, the chairman and patron of the awards committee, Nana Kobina Nketsia V, Omanhene of Asikado traditional area expressed grave concern about how most youth of today waste their precious lives on drugs and alchohol, prostituting and engaging in unnecessary politics .

He urged the African youth to work hard and fight against poverty, bigotry and all ills of society. He also entreated the youth to seek originality, authenticity and be who they are which he said will go a long way to help in building their future and also refrain from all partisan activities. “your passion for azonto should be translated into passion for development” he added.

The programme which was in two folds, thus? the 2012 Ghana Youth Awards Launch and Youth Enterprise Development and Economic Forum took a twist turn when the forum was introduced.

It saw keynote speakers like the Director of Plan Ghana, Mr Samuel?Parlous.
